About the Author

WYNN KAPIT

Wynn Kapit, the designer and illustrator of this book, has had careers in law, graphic and advertising design, painting, and teaching.
In 1955, he graduated from law school, with honors, from the University of Miami and was admitted to the Florida Bar. He practiced law both before and after military service. Four years later, he decided to pursue a childhood ambition and enrolled at what is now the Art Center College in Los Angeles, where he studied graphic design. Afterwards, he worked in the New York advertising world for six years as a designer and art director. He “dropped out” in the late 1960s, returned to California, and began painting. His numerous exhibitions included a one-man show at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in 1968. He returned to school and received a master’s degree in painting from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972.

LAWRENCE M. ELSON

Lawrence M. Elson, PhD, planned the content and organization, provided sketches, and wrote the text for the book. This is his seventh text, having authored It’s Your Body and The Zoology Coloring Book and co-authored The Human Brain Coloring Book and The Microbiology Color ing Book. He received his BA in zoology and pre-med at the University of California at Berkeley and continued there to receive his PhD in human anatomy. Dr. Elson was assistant professor of anatomy at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, participated in the development of the Physician’s Assistant Program, lectured and taught dissection anatomy at the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco, and taught general anatomy, from protozoons to humans, at City College of San Francisco.

This series is amazing Tijan it's an amazing author. These books show so much emotion and loyalty and they relate to what goes on in teenage lives and now college lives minus the secret society at least I know of none lol. But this book is one of my favorites at first I thought it was all jumbled up a bit and going to fast unlike the other ones but once I re read it I fell more in love with it. Sam and masons relationship has never been stronger the foursome has never been tighter as a group and a lot of characters step up and some new ones are introduced. I cannot wait for the other two books!

This is not the average teen drama. This story holds layers and layers of devious, methodical plotting, planning and percolating the demise of Park Sebastian, while trying to keep the Fearsome Foursome safe. I look forward to Logan's book and FC6.

So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I just want to put to rest some of the previous concerns about this being an outdated issue. I'm a doctoral student, so having the latest version of this manual is paramount to the success of my program. That being said, I researched whether or not I should purchase this manual from Amazon, and almost didn't given some of the past negative reviews. I went with my instincts, however, trusting that a major retailer like Amazon would always offer the latest printing of a given text.

Having reread this book for the first time in 20 years, I can confirm that there's a reason that it's considered one of the very best American novels. However, my reaction to the story was different than when I first read it in high school. I recall that back then I was hoping that Daisy and Gatsby's love story would ultimately yield a happy ending. Now, I found them both to be such shallow creatures that they inspired no pity. While I considered the characters to be emotionally stunted, that dooesn't mean I was not impressed with Fitzergerald's skillful rendering. As in most forms of art, in literature it is more difficult to accurately and interestingly portray nothingness than to describe a richly endowed subject. At this more cynical age, I found Daisy to be a remarkable emotional void, and Gatsby's quest to pour all of his hopes and dreams into such a shallow cauldron only confirmed his own vapidity. One thing that hasn't changed in all these years is my amazement at Fitzgerald's ability to set a scene. His descriptive passages are truly poetic, and his command of word choice in unparalleled. All this made for a stimulating and delightful read.

It was like meeting up and hanging out with old friends.

TREASURED BY THURSDAY was a fabulous wrap up of a wonderful series. I highly recommend!

THE GIRLS OF MISCHIEF BAY is the first book in this series and the women in it are memorable. They are in their 30s, almost 40, and 50s - three friends whose ages don't matter to their friendship. Nicole has a young son, a dance/exercise studio - and a husband who quit work so he could surf plus write a screenplay. Oh, and he didn't mention this to Nicole before quitting his well-paying job.Shannon is the CFO at a billion dollar company, never been married and is almost 40. And she's realizing some of the things she's missed out on during her work struggle. And Pam has a husband whom she adores and who adores her. She has grown children. She is feeling older and wants to spice up her marriage.

I loved the natural flow of the storyline and of the dialogue contained in the book. I want to be friends with all three. There are ups and downs and surprises in this modern-day tale. This is another winner from author Mallery and I will be looking forward to the next book in the Mischief Bay series, a wonderful little coastal community near L.A

The characters from both the past and the present were extremely likable. I especially liked that Susanna Kearsley chose to write a heroine who had Asperger syndrome. I thought she handled it really well and it's not something I've seen done before in fiction. The present-day story, where Sara Thomas goes to France to transcribe a diary written in code, was fun, sweet, and interesting. The story set in the past, focusing on Jacobite rebels, was exciting, sad, sometimes scary, and also sweet. Two of the author's other books, The Firebird and The Winter Sea, also focused on the Jacobites, so there were some familiar faces. For Kearsley fans, you'll get to see characters you know from those books, and also a couple of mentions of characters from Mariana, an earlier book.

So, to conclude this jumbled review, I guess I'll just say that this book has everything I've come to expect from Susanna Kearsley – interesting and complex plots, likable characters that you can relate to, laugh with or sometimes cry with, politics and intrigue, romance, and well-researched historical characters and events. I can't recommend it highly enough and I'm excited to see what the author is going to do next, because her books just keep getting better.
